Fatal House Fire

A Martinsville man is dead after his home caught fire early Friday morning. Fire officials spent most of the day at the Grattan Road house.
They say 61-year-old Charles Jeffrey Uram lived there by himself. When crews got to the scene about 8:30, the lower level of the house was fully engulfed with flames. They found Uram's body in the living room.
Investigators don't know how the fire started or if there were working smoke detectors in the home. This is Martinsville's first fatal structure fire since March 2006.
