Since 2003, they've played their big hits for a Charleston, South Carolina crowd, with a goal to collect school supplies. Hootie and the Blowfish are taking that same effort nationally this year and the Southside is on their touring schedule.
The group will play at Danville's Carrington Pavilion this Saturday. They'll take the stage at 8:30. The opening band starts at 7:00. Ticket holders are encouraged to bring school supplies. A school bus from Pittsylvania County and Danville will be on site for collection. School officials say they're more than grateful.
Andrew Tyrell, Danville City Schools - "All we had to do is supply the buses, and supply the volunteers, which is a really neat thing because all we had to do, was agree to do it."
Hootie and the Blowfish have raised more than $150,000 in school supplies to date. This year's expanded tour has 25 stops nationwide. If you want to go to Saturday's show, you can buy tickets at etix.com. Just click here.
