Young Girl Finds Skeletal Remains

A Madison Heights girl stumbled into a mystery Satuday. She found what may very well be human remains in the woods near her home on Coleman Road. Deputies cannot yet confirm the remains are human, but witnesses say they found articles of clothing and other clues. It was an unexpected discovery for Haley Maddox.
Haley Maddox, Found Remains - "The dog went through the creek and I went up the hill... and it was there." Chris Maddox took us deep into the woods where his daughter stumbled upon the remains. Chris Maddox, Area Resident - "She picks up stuff in the woods all the time." Deputies say the remains were mostly skeletal. Chris tells us there was also a shotgun and empty shell nearby. Chris Maddox - "The feet had the socks and shoes on it and a bit of flesh." Chris says he's really not too concerned for his family's safety. Chris Maddox - "Other than the fact that we don't know what happened." Haley Maddox - "I was not expecting a dead body in the woods." Haley is not letting the whole ordeal rattle her either. Haley Maddox - "It was weird." Deputies are now waiting for a report from the medical examiner to find out more about the remains. They say right now they don't know of any missing persons in Amherst County who it could be.
