Salem Comes Back to Down Potomac

Salem Avalanche fans got an extra treat Monday night at Salem Stadium. Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman out of UVA playing for the Nats' Single-A team Potomac tonight and tomorrow night as designated hitter against Salem.
He's been on the disabled list since the beginning of June with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. We'll get to his at bat in just a bit. But first in the bottom of the second, Roberto Mena is going to get Salem on the board. He sends a drive deep into the right-center gap. Cesar Quintero scores. Mena ends up with a triple and we're tied at one.
We go to the 5th, it's 4-2 Potomac. Zimmerman leads off the inning with a double to the wall. On the night he was 2-for-5 with two doubles. The next batter up in the 5th, Francisco Plasencia. He singles to left. Zimmerman will come into score to make it 5-2 Potomac, but Salem had a comeback in 'em. They were down 6-2 but scored three in the 5th and three in the 8th to win it 8-6.
Potomac and the Hillcats were tied for first in the Northern Division entering Monday night. Lynchburg playing at Wilmington, and the 'Cats fall to the Rocks 9-3. With Potomac's loss, the Hillcats and Nats still tied for first.
Appalachian League, Danville's recent struggles continue, the Braves lose at Bristol. First-place Pulaski wins at Bluefield to increase its lead to two-and-a-half over Danville.
