Opening Ceremonies for the Coventry Commonwealth Games of Virginia are this Friday night, 7:30, at the Roanoke Civic Center. This year's Games feature a record 58 sports including karate.
16-year-old Shatia Catlett of Lynchburg will be competing in her eighth Commonwealth Games. The Games' 2006 Female Athlete of the Year has won quite a collection of medals through the years, she's going for her 10th gold Saturday at Roanoke Catholic High.
Shatia Catlett, 2006 Female Athlete of the Year - "Well it's been very challenging for me because there were so many great fighters and like competitors that I had to go through. And they really pumped me up for this great day."
