Lynchburg City Stadium will be s a hub of activity Wednesday night not only for the approaching Hillcats game but also because it's the night for the opening ceremonies for the National Amateur Baseball Federation World Series.
A caravan of school buses just arrived to the stadium not too long ago. That caravan is carrying 33 NABF teams made up of 17-year-olds from 11 states, including teams from our area and Canada. Beginning Thursday games will begin all over Lynchburg with the championship game set for Sunday at 2:00pm at City Stadium.
G.R. Wiley, Tournament Director - " It's gonna be very emotional for me to see all these people. We hope we can pack the stadium tonight, have the largest crowd ever. And I'm trying to see if we can't put more in there than when the New York Mets played the Lynchburg Mets back years ago."
