The National Amateur Baseball Federation World Series is off and running at fields throughout the area. One game this afternoon had Heritage hosting the Long Island Astros out of New York.
1-all game in the second until Long Island broke loose for four runs, Dylan Harmon lines one over Joseph Knight's head to plate a run and make it 3-1. Later in the inning, it's Cam Maron driving one to right to bring in another. It could have been more but watch Trevor Stevens from right field, long throw but he guns down the runner tagging up trying to score.
Trailing 8-1, Heritage got two back in the fourth, Stevens' shot over the right fielder's head brought in the second run to make it 8-3. But Long Island opens with a 12-3 win.
More action at Lynchburg College (web), Brookville battling the Satchel Paige All-Stars from Chicago. Parker Vukrich led off the third inning with a single up the middle for Brookville, and two batters later will come around to score as the ball goes through the wickets at third, Brookville increased its lead to 4-1.
Chicago, though, got two back in the bottom of the third. But Brookville gets two the final inning to win a thriller 8-6.
