He knew his life was coming to an end and gave his last lecture on "How to Live Your Childhood Dreams." Now, Randy Pausch is gone. Millions were inspired by the Carnegie Mellon professor after seeing his story, and his lecture on the internet.
Randy Pausch - "It's not about how to achieve your dreams, it's about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you."
Randy Pausch died Friday morning at his home in Virginia. Pausch's sister and her family live here in Lynchburg. And they've spoken with us in the past about his life and the lecture that made him - as he said, an accidental celebrity.
Now, they're dealing with his death and asked for privacy. In September of 2006 doctors diagnosed Pausch with incurable pancreatic cancer. A year later he spoke at Carnegie Mellon about living the life he'd always dreamed of instead of concentrating on his cancer. He ended the lecture by saying it was for his three young children.
We spoke to his sister this past April. She says it was a way for him to give back.
Tammy Mason, Randy Pausch's Sister - "He wants to try and say things to his kids in a way that they can hear it over and over again when he's not there to give the message himself and he's facing it with tremendous courage, and tremendous strength and for lack of a better word – positiviteness, his tigger!"
Pausch was 47-years-old.
