High school preseason football continues on, as do our previews of area teams. Gretna is coming off a Group A state championship season. This year Coach Chris Thurman and the Hawks aren't looking to rebuild, they're reloading.

Plenty of skill positions players are gone but they do have one reliable returnee, state player of the year Nick Miller.

Chris Thurman, Gretna Coach - "He solves a lot of the problems that you would have. He can get the ball to the receivers. He can run it. He's a smart kid. That's what helps us. He's a truly a smart kid and he's going to get us out of a lot of bad situations."

Nick Miller, Gretna QB - "Most of the players we have now - they are ready to play. We just need more experience on the team. Some of the players are young like I was last year and they got to learn new positions."
