School just got started at Brookville Middle School and the campus has already been hit by crime. Just the second day of classes, and officials arrived Tuesday morning to find broken windows and busted glass.
But, there is good news -- a key piece of evidence that police think will lead them to their man. The suspect was caught on tape.
There weren't apples greeting teachers Tuesday morning, only broken windows. And it all happened around 1:00am.
Bruce Abbott, Brookville Middle School Principal - "After investigating the building, we went through the entire school and found two interior windows also busted out."
Police say the suspect was wearing dark clothing, a ski mask and what they think is a cast or a sling on his right arm.
Abbott - "Not something that I wanted to spend the day dealing with....We were able to get everything taken care of prior to students coming into the building, and had a normal day here."
Principal Bruce Abbott says it doesn't appear anything was taken from the classrooms. But police say the suspect made off with medication from the nurse's office.
Abbott - "It's very unfortunate. But hopefully they'll find out what exactly took place, who the individual or the individuals are involved, and we'll get it solved."
And it's a crime Abbott says hasn't happened at the school in a long time. Abbot says police gathered evidence and cleaned up the mess before students arrived. If you have any information on this break-in, call Crime Stoppers (web) at 888-798-5900.
