Bedford, VA - Hundreds turned out Saturday at Bedford Elementary School for a town hall meeting with 5th district Congressman Tom Perriello. But like many similar meetings nationwide, the reception was far from friendly.

Rep. Tom Perriello, 5th District – “Most of this is legitimate local dissent. Some of it expressed eloquently, some very vocally.”

The meetings are intended to make the issue clearer, but for many the topic is murkier than ever.

President Obama has made health care reform a personal mission. His push gained some surprising support Saturday. Reports are pharmaceutical companies will lobby Capitol Hill with $150 million to spread their message. In his weekly address, the President suggests health care reform is a step towards getting the economy on the right path.

As AIG, Citibank, Lehman Brothers, Bank of America and the rest of the financial industry gambled and lost taking America with it remind me again how bad govt is?   Remember how capitalism and deregulation were the savior of America?  If the health care industry is so great why are my health care costs going up as much as 20% a year?  The govt is going to make it worse ....  Oh really?

So while quoting the man why didnt you address the issues he spoke of? Do you have some more liberal talking points you wish to post?
While posting the Businesses you did, I agree there was some shady practices but they was known by our govt you do know that right?  You understand that our leaders are invested and deal with these people everyday and thats how we lost a boatload of money dont you?  Deregulation had its up side and its down side, early on the downside was seen and the fix it was blocked in committee so it wasnt fixed. Your health care cost are going up due to paying for lawsuits that should be capped, research and development is high, drug companies may release drugs taht later have some side effects then there is more lawsuits, govt also has there hand in it,etc...  Ok  here is a good question   If govt is going to make things cheaper from healthcare to drugs then how come everyone complains that medicare doesnt [pay that much and isnt doing the job?
As the business man said why do you have faith in a govt to run this program better than all the other programs that they have that are huge wasteful programs that are inefficient?  And I know you dont just think that this one is better because Obama said so because i know you understand this program was actually made by the congress and senate that was there to disappoint everyone during the Bush years.  If Bush had Showed  this program to you  would you have supported it?
