Citizens Learn at Police Academy
posted 10:33 pm Tue September 04, 2007 - Lynchburg, VA
They've come to hit the streets and learn what it's like to step into the shoes of a police officer and now some folks in the Hill City are already developing a new appreciation for what those men and women do. This was the first night of Lynchburg's 2007 Citizens' Police Academy. The program offers extensive police training from members of Lynchburg's Crime Prevention Unit including everything from traffic stops to K-9 training.
Over the next several weeks "citizen police" from around the area will take on all kinds of simulated police work, complete with real officers acting the part of "the bad guy."
