posted 10:53 pm Thu September 20, 2007 - Danville, VA
Former Governor Mark Warner was in our area Thursday night, a week after he officially announced his plans to run for Senate. Warner spoke to a group at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville as a speaker for the Sorenson Institute for Political Leadership. Warner addressed the importance of young leaders, and stressed that you don't have to move away from the Southside to be a leader in politics. He says he enjoyed his time as Governor of Virginia, but now wants to turn his focus to helping in Washington.
Mark Warner, Former Governor - " I hope and pray maybe I can add a little value and being somebody who is more interested in getting things fixed and less interested in partisan points."
Warner will be in South Boston Friday, talking about bringing broadband access to Southern Virginia.
