Here in Battleground Virginia, there was much anticipation for John McCain (web|news|bio) to take the stage. The Campbell County Republicans had a convention watch party at Big Lick on Timberlake Road. About 20 people watched McCain's speech with other Republican supporters.
That included Republicans from other GOP chapters, even students from Liberty University (web) . And everyone says these watch parties are a great way to energize the party.
Fred Smith, Campbell County Republicans - "I've been getting excited for about a month now. But the convention always makes for a more exciting time for all of us."
Margaret Vaughan, Campbell County Republicans - "It will energize those of us that are here, and then we can energize others and spread the excitement."
They say they'll need that energy to carry them through all the campaigning until November.
