Gretna and Patrick County, VA -
State Police are investigating two separate motorcycle crashes this weekend. The first happened around 1:15 p.m. Saturday. State Police Sgt. Bob Carpentieri says 42-year-old Ryan Ellsworth Harms was traveling on Route 8 in Patrick County when his bike ran off the side of the road, hit an embankment and then several trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he was wearing his helmet. The crash is still under investigation.
The second happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Gretna. At last check, Troopers say a Penhook man was listed in serious condition. Officers say a Monte Carlo was turning into a parking lot from Route 40 in Gretna, when the car collided with an oncoming motorcycle. Police say 35-year-old David Wayne Doss, Junior was thrown from the bike. He was airlifted to the hospital. Troopers say he was seriously injured.
