Rustburg and Bedford Co., VA - Two men are in the hospital after a single-vehicle crash near Rustburg Tuesday night.
State police say the 24-year-old driver from Florida needed to be taken by helicopter to Lynchburg General for head injuries. Rescue crews drove the only passenger, a 20-year-old from Georgia, to the hospital to be evaluated.
Troopers say the two men were driving westbound on Route 24 around 8:30 p.m. when the driver ran the car into a tree. It happened near Calohan Road.
State Police are investigating the cause, and say charges are pending.
Meanwhile, State Police responded to another single-vehicle crash on Route 24. They got to the scene in Bedford County around 9:30 Wednesday morning.
Dispatchers say the car overturned near Aftons Meadow Road in Chamblissburg.
Both lanes of the Route 24 were closed.
We're told the victim was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
