Area Pastor Buys Entire Line of Christian Dolls

Some may not like the idea of a talking Jesus doll. But one local church leader is buying the entire line of dolls to use in his ministry. We told you about the dolls, being sold in local Wal-Marts, earlier this week.
After news reports about the dolls, the Reverend Larry Davies of Timberlake United Methodist Church spoke with the dolls' maker. Hearing that the dolls are useful in bringing the word of God to children, Davies bought a thousand dollars worth of the toys.
He says he'll use them in church this Sunday and also distribute them to the poor at Christmas.
Larry Davies, Timberlake United Methodist Church - "You are always looking for a creative way to help people learn about their faith. So this will be a creative way, a fun way to have them right in our church, right in class. They can talk about them, play with them and have the chance to learn about all the bible characters, not just Jesus."
Wal-Mart has been selling the line of dolls, called Tales of Glory, for three months and sales had been slow. But after news reports this week, most of the dolls are now sold out.
