MRSA Death Confirmed

Documents showing proof that a 17-year-old Staunton River High School student did die from MRSA. Ashton Bonds died last Monday at Roanoke Memorial. His mother told us all along MRSA was the cause, but we could not confirm it with his doctor.
We spoke with his mother Tuesday afternoon, because she wants to set the record straight and let people know that MRSA can be fatal, as in the case of her son.
Veronica Bonds showed us Ashton's record. Doctors list the primary diagnosis as MRSA and everything else he suffered, kidney failure, even pneumonia, because of the MRSA. Bonds says prior to last Monday she didn't know what MRSA was. Since Ashton's death she's educated herself and other children.
Bonds says she called the school after doctors diagnosed Ashton and wanted more to be done. After a cry from parents and students, Bedford County closed all schools for an entire day of cleaning, disinfecting the schools affected by MRSA and working to educate parents and students.
Veronica Bonds says she'll give the certificate to the school system and hopes that now that it's official she wants the school to realize what could happen to students.
Veronica Bonds, Son Died of MRSA - "Believe, believe because it's real, it's real. MRSA took Ashton's life, but Ashton's death brought MRSA alive. It opened a lot of people's eyes."
Ashton was laid to rest this past Saturday. Veronica Bonds says Ashton's story is so important, she hopes another mother doesn't have to go through seeing their child suffer.
