It may not sound as traditional as pumpkin pie, but there are plenty of people out there taking their stuffing with a side of pigskin.

Buck Walker, Lynchburg - "I got it.  I got it.  I got it."

ABC 13 myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?
Plenty of people got up Thursday ready for turkey.

Walker - "Get it there! Get it, Ben!"

Others had to work up to it.

Walker - "You get out here, get a good sweat so you can fill your belly."

David Cooper, Lynchburg - "We're all busy with kids and work and everything, but it's a good day to get out and run around."

Player - "One Mississippi, two Mississippi..."

And who needs an egg-timer when you've got a kid who knows his Mississippi's?  There'll be time for food.  This is game time.

Player - "Fumble!"

Zachary Hurt, Lynchburg - "Big plays.  Big hits -- even when you're playing touch. (Laughs)"

Walker - "Jamie, come back.  Come back!"

And that means giving thanks for open receivers and strong-armed quarterbacks.

Buck Walker, Lynchburg - "That back right corner is open."

Hurt - It's competitive, you know.  It's always kind of competitive so it's pretty fun."

Player - "Fifty-eight yard penalty!"

There's nothing wrong with competition.  This day is about overcoming struggle, right?

Walker - "Well, you've got to be tough.  You've got to be tough to play football.  We don't have pads on, but we get out here and work hard -- sweat it out."

Cooper - "When we play, it's two-hand-touch so we're not going to hurt each other too bad."

Walker, Lynchburg - "Find the middle.  We love the middle."

Of course, pain is open to interpretation.

Player - "One one-thousand, two one-thousand..."

Kate Barry, Lynchburg - "I don't really like playing football very much. (Laughs)"

But, the thing is: you don't have to like football to enjoy fellowship.

Buck Walker, Lynchburg - "I think that's it.  You guys won."

After all, the day's just started.  There's plenty more to come.

Ian Barry, Lynchburg - "Oh, we'll probably just hang out, and then go eat a bunch."

Player - "I can go take a nap now.”
