Harrisonburg, VA -
A former Liberty University (web) student is in intensive care after being shot early Sunday morning. Harrisonburg police say the shooting happened around three Sunday morning near the campus of James Madison University.
Police aren’t releasing his name, but friends tell us Reginald "Shay" Nicholson was shot in the parking lot.
According to the LU Flames website, Nicholson played football for the school last season, and a friend tells us Nicholson is no longer a student at Liberty.
Police say Nicholson is at the University of Virginia Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Harrisonburg police are still searching for a suspect.
Because the shooting happened near campus, JMU issued a warning to students of a "possible threat to the community."
