Lynchburg, VA - If you are among the 1,700 people whose personal information was stolen from White Rock Bookkeeping and Tax Company in Lynchburg, police say you need to start working right now to protect your identity.
We told you about the break-in at the start of the month. Whoever got in took six computers that contained clients' personal financial information, including tax returns. The information is password-protected, but police say that does not mean someone can't find a way to access it.
Cindy Kozerow, Lynchburg Police (web) Department - "Well, I think they do need to be concerned, because they have the potential to be victims. They need to notify the major companies like Experian, Trans Union -- get a fraud alert put out on their name so that if someone does try to open an account, then it's going to put that red flag up."

having your info stolen the same as we did through another company only ours was sold to someone.. the fraud alert is only good for 90 days and then you can renew it for another 90... so 180 days total of alerts whats to say the person whom bought our info just doesn't hold onto it for that long then use it.. the person who sold it was fired and is being prosecuted but the person whom purchased it??? we have no idea just wondering why we can't have the police report number so we can get the seven year alert 180 days hardly seems enough when someone has all your info trust me we asked for it and were denied until someone actually uses our info, yep seems a little to late to me too
