If you're starting to make your Thanksgiving grocery list, there is good news. A new survey shows a basic meal will cost Virginians less this holiday.
The menu included items like turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, and cranberries.
The Virginia Farm Bureau Federation found this year's average price is down by 3.5 percent.
According to the survey, the statewide average to feed 10 people is $43.72.
Rockingham County had the lowest total at $37. The area with the highest amount is Amherst County at more than $50.
Some shoppers were surprised by this- others weren't.
"I don't know why it would be higher here than any other place," Dave Badcock said.
"I would think it would be lower, with as many farmers and cattleman that Amherst County has," Mary Thompson said.
"It's unreal but I believe it, I was living in Nelson and it was a whole lot cheaper in Nelson," Johnnie Pippin said.
"I've noticed that prices in Amherst County are as high or higher than they were in Pennsylvania," Judy Reyburn said.
The price of the turkey had a lot to do with Amherst's total. The survey found you'll pay $21 for one there, compared to nine in Rockingham County.
