Blacksburg, VA -
Virginia Tech senior Cody Grimm tied an NCAA record with three forced fumbles Saturday against N.C. State. That pretty much explained how the day went for Tech. It was Senior Day at Tech.
N.C. State made it easy for the Hokies early, fumbling the ball three times in their first four snaps. That allowed Tyrod Taylor to do what he does best. This 11-yard run... doesn't quite make it in...but the next play does. Ryan Williams puts the Hokies up 10-nothing with his first of four touchdowns on the day. But N.C. State works to stay in it. Driving all the way down the field that ended with this 20-yard strike from Russell Wilson to Owen Spencer. Hokies still up 10-7. The Hokies got some nice plays all day. Here Taylor, trying to get away, throws it up at the last second. Jarrett Boykin comes down with the 17-yard catch to set up another score.
More Tyrod to Boykin, look at this grab! Boykin had 6 catches for 164 yards. That's nice and so is this. More Ryan Williams...he broke tackles and broke the ACC and Virginia Tech freshman running record. He had 120 yards on 23 carries. Tech rolls 38-to-10.
Frank Beamer, VT Coach - "Man is that guy strong... and he is strong. He's quick, he's powerful and I think a complete back. Really a complete back."
Ryan Williams, VT RB - "The team feels good, I feel good, man...I know we took some hard losses we weren't expecting to take. We're just trying to finish out strong and get the ten wins."
