Bedford Co., VA - Her toddler was found alone, in the cold, in a Bedford County mobile home park. Now prosecutors are charging the boy's mother, Linda McKay with felony child neglect.

Neighbors at Brunmore Court found the toddler wearing only a t-shirt and light pair of pants in 40-degree weather.

The couple who found the boy looked for his family for 20 minutes before calling police.  hankfully, the toddler is okay. If convicted, McKay could face up to five years in prison.

Talkback: Mom Charged with Child Neglect

I myself am a parent of a 22 month old. No I have not done anything as bad as having my child wander out of my house. All the doors are locked and child proof so that something like this could never happen. We have baby gates blocking all stairs and every other form of protection to make sure my child is safe. It has nothing to do with the fact that this woman lives in a trailer park, are you not quick to judge us ? Do you assume that just because she lives in a trailer park that people feel she should be punished? As for something worse happening.. do you not watch the news about children being abducted? Thankfully the people who found the toddler were Samaritans and not some child molester or some other type of person who would have just taken the child for their own. Are we to excuse this woman for having her child be in the cold with barely anything on? It's not summer out there, it is fall going into winter, cold weather for a toddler is much worse than for an adult. Hypothermia could have set in before someone had found the child, or worse. There are so many things that could have happened. People drive really fast these days (must we forget the teen who ran over that little boy?) who is to say that the toddler might not have been run over? Who is to say that if action is not taken this time that it won't happen again and we read about this toddler, but instead of the story turning out this way, it turns out to be about how he was hit by a car or froze to death? No the child would not be better off without his mother, every child needs their mother, however if the mother does not understand that what she did was beyond being excusable then yes, take the child away. I personally do not want to read about a toddler who has died from neglect or a simple mistake of "oops he wandered outside and I was sleeping and had no idea"
