Madison Heights, VA - Tight times mean many of us are searching for a bargain. But keeping coupons and sales straight can be confusing and frustrating. Ask your local Walgreens store. A mistake in the paper has a lot of people trying to cash in on a sale that hasn't even started.

The ad that was supposed to be in Sunday's paper. But many people got a different one and found their trip to the store was wasted.

Elsie Johns, Bargain Hunter - "I mean you can't find stuff for 39 cents."

Elsie Johns is a self-described bargain hunter.

Johns - "Chicken soup is high, you can go up their and get your two cans for a dollar. You don't see that in the grocery store."

She's more than willing to make the trip from Madison Heights to Lynchburg for a deal.

Johns - "We went to Walgreen's to purchase some items that they had on sale, not paying attention to the date. So we go around, put it in the basket, we go up to pay for it and she tells us that it's not on sale to the following Sunday."

Elsie missed the fine print - the sale doesn't start until next Sunday.

Johns - "I just think if you're going to print something, you should honor it, or either get your dates correct on it."

Walgreens says the local paper accidentally stuffed next week's ad into some Sunday papers. An easy mistake, but all those circulars and special sales are hard to keep straight.

Phyllis Phillips, Lynchburg Shopper - "Yeah it's frustrating! You feel like you wasted your time."

Joyce Davis, Gretna - "Sometimes you've got only two items, you've got 200 people waiting in the store for two of those."

Jim Woods, Shopper - "It can be frustrating especially when you're already in line with a handful of the items."

So your best advice is to read the ad carefully, before heading out the door like Elsie.

Johns - "Well, pretty upset. And my patience wasn't too good."

Walgreens says next Sunday's ad will start as scheduled on December 7th. Experts say, when you are shopping this time of year, map out the sales and bring the circulars with you. That way, if there is a discrepancy, you can clear it up at the store.

Just for the record.. i went to Walgreens Wards Road , Sunday Nov.30th to pick up medicine and I picked up Their  Sales Flyer that is the center of this controversy.  Now it is discussed here that the newspaper stuffed the wrong ad in Sundays paper.. Also it is said that the wrong dates were on the ad and if people had looked at the ad s dates, they would have saved a trip to Walgreens. That is NOT so .. I am sitting here as I am typing this , with the Sales Flyer in question and on the Front Page of the Flyer from Walgreens it says:

"Sale Prices Good November 30-December 6, 2008"

I returned to Walgreens Wards Rd. Wednesday afternoon , with my shopping list , but not my ad .. on the doors was a sign saying Sundays Ad was a Mistake- My girlfriend and I , Questioned and challenged it with the employee and you know they could not give a explanation good enough and I told them I got my flyer out of their flyer rack on Sunday(Not out of the Newspaper) and that they could NOT  blame the NewsPaper for their store display. AND TO TOP OFF OUR VISIT WED. AS WE WERE CHECKING OUT , THE SIGNS THEY HAD TAPED ON THE DOORS , HAD BEEN TAKEN DOWN.. I QUESTIONED THAT ALSO ..AS TO WHAT THEY WERE DOING NOW .. AND GOT BLOWN OFF AGAIN . So, they have told the
