Roanoke, VA - Another local business is struggling. The owner of Ukrop's is urging folks to come out and shop their Roanoke store. The grocery store has been open for a little over a year, but business hasn't picked up as management would like.
In a letter to shoppers, Bobby Ukrop says for the store to continue, things need to turn around and until it gets better, management says you can stop all speculation that another store would open in Lynchburg.
Jason Woodcock, Ukrop's Ivy Market Manager - "I think as far as growth is concerned our focus right now is getting this building and this Ukrop's Roanoke up to where we'd like it to be and then we will evaluate things for the future."
Ukrop's says their business has been hurt by the lack of customers and the owner says while the economy has taken a role, their prices are competitive with other grocery chains in the area.
