Dennis is the Sports Director for ABC 13 Sports, recently celebrating his 29th anniversary with the station. He began working with WSET on August 1, 1983. Over the years, Dennis has covered major local and national sports stories, including Virginia Tech's Sugar Bowl National Championship Game against Florida State in January, 2000, the Daytona 500, NCAA and ACC Basketball Tournaments, and state high school championships in a variety of sports. In June, 2007, ABC 13 Sports won the Virginia Association of Broadcasters Award for Outstanding Sports Coverage, recognizing the best daily sportscast in the state.
Also in 2007, Dennis was honored by the Lynchburg Area Sports Hall of Fame with the Calvin Porter Award for outstanding coverage of area sports.
Dennis is also a past recipient of the Marshall Johnson Award for standout coverage of high school sports in the state of Virginia.
Dennis stays active in Central Virginia, his volunteer work includes Virginia Special Olympics, the American Cancer Society, Children's Miracle Network and the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra.
Dennis enjoys playing and watching nearly all sports, especially tennis and golf, playing Putt-Putt with his son Ryan and playing bingo with his Dad.
Dennis grew up in Danville, graduating from G.W., Danville Community College and Virginia Tech. He worked in radio in Danville for four years before joining WSET in 1983.
