WSET.com - ABC13New To The Team by Lyndsay Tapases

Hi All!

Some of you may have noticed that there is a new face to the ABC 13 Weather team, so I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you! But before I begin, I just want to say that I am so excited to be here and can't wait to work alongside Sean and Matt in the Weather Center! My normal position will be doing the weekend weather, and then fill-in and team weather during the week as needed.

I have only been in Lynchburg about a week or so but am already growing to love the area. I knew I would be joining a talented and caring group of people at the station and the way everyone has welcomed me here has left no doubt in my mind. I feel very lucky to be able to work alongside such a great group of people!

Now a little bit about myself. I made the trip down to Lynchburg from about 5 hours north, where I have just completed my Meteorology degree from Penn State University. While in school, I also held a part-time job as a television broadcaster with AccuWeather, Inc, based out of State College. My year and a half with AccuWeather was a tremendous learning opportunity for me. I was surrounded by a lot of experienced meteorologists who helped me to grow and learn as a forecaster, and I am truly thankful for my time there.

Although I am leaving behind many close friends in PA, my goal has always been to make the transition over to local television, because I have always felt that establishing a connection with the local viewing community is one aspect of my job that makes it so enjoyable. I look forward to being able to meet many of you in the future, and please do not hesitate to email me with any questions!

"Home" for me is even further up North, in Massachusetts, but I am excited that I will still be able to forecast the weather for an area with four seasons! After all, I am a New England native… so we like to keep our weather interesting! I will say though, that I do easily get sick of the snow up there (especially when I have to drive in it) so I will like the fact that the winters here won't be as harsh.

Aside from being a weather junkie, I enjoy the outdoors, working out, reading, trying to cook (especially Greek food), shopping, and spending time with friends and family. I appreciate you taking the time to get to know me and thanks for watching!
