Justin Case for May 5, 2010

This UVa lacrosse murder story will continue to unravel. Shock, confusion, and "are you kidding" are some of the words that come to mind when I heard that story. Police have offered up a tiny bit of the information. Stay tuned to see what's next. This story has the ability to last for a month or two, maybe longer.

College baseball - LU's 3-game sweep last week against VMI was impressive. LU swept G-Webb too but they're not that good and maybe VMI isn't either. After beating #1 UVa a couple weeks back, they lost 11 straight games.
UVa and VT continue to impress. UVa's #2 and VT's #18. Here's the complete rankings - http://www.sportswriters.net/ncbwa/news/2010/poll100503.html

Come June, there's going to be a solid amount of Hokies and Cavs taken in the MLB draft. Austin Wates, Jesse Hahn, Jarrett Parker, Tyler Cannon, Dan Grovatt and others could/should see their name called.
The ACC Tourney is in Greensboro this year. Not too far of a drive for UVa and VT fans.

One month into the season, the Hillcats are 11-13. It's hard to make a decision this early as to how good of a team they're going to be. They're in second place now but the two best teams so far are in the other division. Salem and Winston-Salem are both 17-7. Lynchburg's top prospect is pitcher Brad Boxberger. He's the 9th best Reds prospect and I did a story on him this week. It will air either Thursday or Friday at 6pm. Check it out.

FYI - this week we're exactly 4 months away from the start to college football.
First week games: Richmond at UVa, VT vs. Boise State, St. Francis at LU,

The NBA playoffs continue. We do a playoff pool just for fun in the newsroom and through the first round no one has a perfect bracket. Only one was 7 for 8. I was 6 for 8 and still have the Cavs and Lakers in the finals.Police have offered up a tiny bit of the information. Stay tuned to see what's next.
