Rustburg Chaplain Helping in Louisiana


A Campbell County man is part of two support teams of chaplains the Virginia National Guard is sending to Louisiana to support military personnel assisting with the oil spill. 

Staff Sgt. Dave Paulson of Rustburg is assigned to help in Houma, Louisiana. He'll be assisting Chaplain (Capt.) Edward Paul of Virginia Beach.  The other team is made up of Chaplain (Capt.) Jeffrey Hicks of Elkton and Pfc. Robert Mathis of Spotsylvania.  They'll report to New Orleans.

A chaplain support team consists of one chaplain and one chaplain's assistant, and they'll offer religious services, Bible study and counseling.  The assignment is for 30 days, but could be extended to 60 days.
