Lynchburg, VA - Young people in Lynchburg will be getting some extra help to stay away from criminal activity from the Commonwealth's Attorney's office. The initiative was launched this morning during a breakfast at the Boys and Girls Club.
It's called "Target Outreach" and it will link Lynchburg's Youth Community Court and the Boys and Girls Club -- by identifying kids in the system and referring them to the non-profit organization.
Commonwealth's Attorney Mike Doucette said his office will be giving more than 62-thousand dollars to the program, thanks to an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.
"We're really excited about being able to reach a lot of the youth and prevent the sort of problems we see at the tail-end of the criminal justice system," Doucette said.
Frito-Lay also donated 30-thousand dollars to the Boys and Girls Club for renovations to their facility.
