Halifax Co., VA - The very hot temperatures are not keeping people from making their way out to the Halifax County Cantaloupe Festival. This is the festival's 30th year.
The festival got underway at 4:00 p.m., and there are so many people out having a great time- people dancing, listening to music, and more.
The point of this festival is to showcase the county's most famous crop- the cantaloupe.
Organizers have been preparing the lopes, cutting them into slices for everyone to try.
It's taken most the day to set everything up.
Friday's night's main act is Cravin' Melon. Festival goers are really looking forward to the band.
"The all you can eat food and beverage is pretty enticing and Cravin Melon. Oh I can't wait to see them," Zack Henderson said.
The festival runs until 10:00 p.m. Friday.
