Lynchburg, VA - The Lynchburg Adult Detention Center, where Christopher Speight was locked up, says it does in fact record video surveillance and inmate phone calls.

On Monday, a judge ordered the jail to release any recordings of Speight. He's, of course, accused of killing eight people in Appomattox County in January.

Jail operators would not comment on Speight's specific case, but say a video surveillance request is not unusual.

Elton Blackstock with the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority said, "We do have video surveillance of some activities within the jail. As far as telephone calls, telephone calls in and out of the jail to all inmates are recorded."

Blackstock says the jail has not received the subpoena for the Speight tapes just yet.
