Lynchburg, VA- The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank received some much needed donations on Saturday through a local food drive.
Several Ruritan Clubs and AARP members collected food throughout the day as part of a state wide effort to help food banks.
These donations are especially helpful since more people are turning to food banks for assistance.
And, on Saturday members of the Madison Heights Ruritan club brought in an impressive 600 pounds of food to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in Lynchburg.
"We enjoy doing this, and I think it's a great project. We'd love to have some other people help us sometimes. We'd like to thank everybody who helped donate the food," Carl Cassell, Secretary Madison Heights Ruritan Club.
You can give the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank a helping hand by donating non-perishable items liked canned goods, foods, soups, and pastas.
