When it comes to holiday shopping, retailers are ready, but how about you? You may not be feeling the holiday spirit yet, but in many stores, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
The experts at credit.com and Consumer Reports have some advice to prevent that post-holiday debt:
- Decide how much you want to spend for the holiday season overall, and then create budgets for those you want to spend on.
- Shop early when you likely to get the best selection. Many retailers will be ordering less inventory so they don't get stuck with leftovers.
- Be sure to comparison shop at outlets and warehouse clubs. They're usually a great source of bargains.
But don't get too overwhelmed by great bargains. Never forget that there's a consequence. It's the 30 day hangover that shows up in January. Just make sure that before you spend it, you can afford it.
