If you have a child that's going to be in college in the Fall, now's the time to apply for financial aid. Filling out something called the FAFSA can help pay those expensive college bills.
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It's an application you fill out online. Even if you make too much money, and don't think you'll qualify for need-based aid, the FAFSA needs to be filled out. It's the foundation for everything from merit awards to government-sponsored grants and loans.
And do it now, before financial aid money runs out. Don't wait until your tax return is done. Instead, use ballpark numbers and update them later when your taxes are finished. The important thing is to fill out the FAFSA, and send it in as soon as possible.
