Rachel Schaerr

From central Georgia to the heart of Virginia, Rachel Schaerr looks forward to hearing stories about the people of Lynchburg and sharing them with you.

Rachel spent two years as a general assignment reporter in Macon, Georgia where she covered everything from local, state and political races to sexual assault allegations against Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The most exciting moment of her career was flying in an F-16 fighter jet with the Thunderbirds (she insists she didn't get too sick and has the video to prove it). But, she has found that the most memorable stories involve you; and telling them is a privilege she doesn't take lightly.

Rachel knew she wanted to be a news reporter when the D.C. snipers struck her hometown of Rockville, Maryland. She watched—glued, to the local news as details of the shootings emerged, and families of the victims shared their stories with the rest of the world.

She studied broadcast communications and professional writing at Barry University and graduated with high honors.

Rachel covers crime and courts for the City of Lynchburg and sits on the Central Virginia Regional Crime Stoppers board.

She's also passionate about animal rescue organizations. Her dog, Ava, has brought so much joy to her life.
