Amherst Co. Mother Sentenced in Child Abuse Case

Amherst Co., VA - An Amherst County mother will spend six years in prison for waiting almost two days before taking her badly burned baby to the hospital.

In January, a judge found Sadrina Busick guilty of malicious wounding and child neglect.  She was sentenced to 25 years Tuesday, but the judge suspended 19 of them.

On New Year's Eve, 2009, Busick's son Angel was admitted to the emergency room with third degree burns.  Prosecutors say Busick's boyfriend Robert Levalley poured scalding liquid on him.

Angel also had other injuries, including three broken ribs.
