Halifax Co., VA - Three people have been arrested, including a 15-year-old, after authorities discovered a man's body inside a well in Halifax County. The body had been there for weeks.

According to the medical examiner's office, 36-year-old Eric Wynn died from a gunshot wound to the head. Now his wife Connie Wynn, mother-in-law Debra Scribner, and his 15-year-old son have been arrested and charged with first degree murder.

An affidavit says that the 15-year-old had reached out to his uncle for help about his father's abuse. A family member came to this home looking for Eric, and saw what looked like blood on this well. After getting a search warrant, investigators say there was in fact a body inside and that it looks like it had been there for weeks.

Brian Alderson thought it was strange that he hadn't seen his neighbors in several weeks.

"Three weeks went by and I noticed the grass had grown up and hadn't nobody been around there at all in three weeks. So I figured either they had moved or something was going on," said Alderson.

Alderson never thought his neighbor might be lying dead inside the well in front of his home.

"I was shocked. That particular place and I live a quarter mile up the road and didn't know nothing about it," said Alderson.

"While serving the search warrant, we discovered more evidence that led us to the well and we found his body about 43 feet down into the well," said Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin.

A copy of the affidavit reveals that the victim, Eric Wynn and his wife Connie had been fighting the night of April 10th. The report says their 15-year-old son got involved in the fight. Connie told investigators her husband left the home the next morning when someone picked him up in a truck.

"It's never a good situation when you have a murder. Especially in a small community like this. And it's always a shock to everybody," said Investigator Jimmy Clay.

Alderson says the couple seemed like nice enough people. Now that one is dead and another is charged, his concern is for the couple's children.

"It's just a bad situation. And all we can do is just pray for the best," said Alderson.

We're told that the children are being held in a safe place. If you have any more information, call the Sheriff's Office at 434-476-3334.
