It's so much easier saying hello than it is saying goodbye. In the coming days though, I will be leaving the WSET team for a job opportunity closer to loved ones.
Three years ago, I was preparing to graduate from college. I remember exactly where I was when I got a phone call from news director, Bill Foy. I had just walked into my friend Roby's apartment after my last class for the day, and my cell phone rang. It was Bill. I froze for a second, calmly answered his questions and when I hung up, I swear, I jumped around the room for a good five minutes.
I came in for an interview and got the job. Let me say, I was right to be excited. I am so fortunate to have started my career at a station like ABC 13. These past three years have been full of growth, opportunities and great memories.
What I will miss most about Southside, are the kind people that live here. When I first moved to the area, I remember waiting in line at the DMV and casually talking to the woman next to me. The next day, I had flowers on my desk and they were from her. There isn't a place here where I'm not greeted with smiles from strangers. I will miss all of those smiles.
To my co-workers, friends and to our viewers, thank you for everything. Wherever I end up in my career, I will never, ever forget where I started.
