Lynchburg, VA - Friday Cheers kicked off in downtown Lynchburg - the first for the season, and organizers say this is the biggest one ever.
A big draw for the thousands who showed is the popular band The Worx. A handful of local vendors brought food - mostly from downtown restaurants.
After this Friday's, there are eleven more to go, with different bands at each one.
Lynch's Landing, a non-profit, hosts the summer festival. Organizers say money raised at Cheers goes right into improving downtown.
"Friday Cheers is intended to be a party with a purpose, so it raises money for downtown revitalization and it gets people downtown to enjoy the riverfront, downtown, eat, shop and have a good time," said Anna Bentson, Executive Director at Lynch's Landing.
The next Cheers is next Friday, May 27, at Riverfront Park
