Oklahoma City shot just 1-of-17 from three-point range, but still had opportunities down the stretch before falling 93-87 to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals at Oklahoma City Arena.
Dallas led wire to wire, racing out to a 27-12 lead after the first quarter and leading by as many as 23 early in the second quarter before the Thunder put together a charge in the fourth quarter.
Russell Westbrook led the comeback, scoring eight straight points to pull the Thunder within eight, 80-72 on a lay-up with 6:33 remaining. He would later make the team's only trey of the night to trim Dallas' advantage to 88-83 and the lead would dwindle to four on Kevin Durant's jumper with 24 seconds to play.
But, Dallas made its free throws down the stretch to keep the lead.
Westbrook finished with 30 points to lead the Thunder. Durant struggled, shooting just 7-of-22, including 0-for-8 from three-point range. He ended with 24 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds.
Shawn Marion and Dirk Nowitzki each scored 18 to lead Dallas, which now leads the series two games to one.
Game 4 in the series will be played Monday night at 8 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
