Chatham, VA - Retired Virginia Justice William Carrington Thompson has passed away at 95 years old.

Justice Thompson was born in Chatham in 1916.  He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1935 then received his law degree at UVA.

Before being elected to the Supreme Court of Virginia, Thompson was the Commonwealth's Attorney for Pittsylvania County.  He also served as a state delegate and senator.
