Amherst Co., VA - The Blue Ridge Summer Institute for Young Artists launched their first camp this week at Sweet Briar College. Students from all over the U.S. have come to study areas in creative writing, visual art and theater.
What makes this camp unique is they are doing a lot of their work with just an IPAD. Upon arriving to camp, each student gets their own. They do this in hopes to show how technology could be a great tool for them as a artist.
"Since they are this young generation coming up, as young artists they are going to have to, in the future, try to figure out how might technology interface with what they do as artist," said Dave Griffith, director.
With these IPADs, they are able to do everything an artist can do with pen and paper. Their goal for this camp is to give students a hands-on experience of what it's like to be a professional artist in today's society.
