You've seen Danner Evans in just about every newscast here at ABC 13 News over the years. These days she anchors evenings at 5, 5:30, 7 and 11 and handles health stories and a weekly parenting segment called Mommy Monday.
Danner came to WSET (don't ask how long ago) as a weekend anchor and then moved to early mornings on GMV and 13 News Midday.
She took a three year break from the Heart of Virginia to sit in the main anchor seat every night on WMBF News in Myrtle Beach. Danner launched the first all HD digital station built from the ground up.
Danner's been awarded by the Virginia Associated Press for her anchoring and the Virginia Association of Broadcasters for feature reporting following a little boy fighting cancer named Nathan Norman. She also won awards from the South Carolina Associated Press for both medical and education reporting.
Danner's most treasured award is being mommy to her two little boys, Luke and Mac. In her spare time, she's fishing Virginia's rivers with family or pounding the pavement running. Danner has finished the Virginia 10 Miler, Myrtle Beach Half Marathon and The New York Marathon.
Although Danner grew up in Wichita, Kansas and cheers for her alma mater, the KU Jayhawks, she married a Lynchburg boy and Virginia really is her home now.
Danner loves to not only update you on the latest headlines on air, but also online. You can follow her on Facebook and Twitter. If you've got a story you'd like to tell, don't hesitate to reach out and let Danner know.
