Chris Nowinski
Lynchburg, VA - He's a former Ivy League football player, WWE Wrestler and author.
On Thursday, Chris Nowinski was in Lynchburg to conduct a workshop about preventing concussions with athletes.
This is something that hits home for Nowinski because concussions caused him to retire from wrestling at the young age of 23.
Coaches and parents learned Thursday that they need to be more sensitive to concussions and their kids need to report them when it happens.
Nowinski gave some suggestions that he discussed in his workshop.
"In football, hit less in practice, in soccer don't use headers so much. There is a long list of things we need to do though, we need to try a lot harder to keep our kid's brain's safe," said Nowinski, CEO of Sports Legacy Institute.
He will continue to travel around the state of Virginia with Department of Health. His next stop is Norfolk.
