Only two Football Friday Previews remain before opening night Friday.
Bassett Bengals Head Coach Jay Gilbert enters his eighth season at Bassett with a team that returns six starters on offense and five on defense.
The Bengals struggled to a 4-7 record last year….that's motivation enough. Plus, Bassett opens at home against Carroll County, the team that ended the Bengals season in round one of the playoffs.
"I think they have gotten tired of the last two years, we had a tradition before that of five straight titles and I think over the last couple of years they have been a little disappointed," said Gilbert.
"With the 4-and-7 season, it really motivated me to get prepared in the off-season. So I went and made sure I had 100 percent in the off-season in the weight room and everything, and showed up to everything I could and make sure I was here to show the team that there are no excuses," said Bowman, Bengals, a junior fullback/linebacker.
