Lynchburg, VA – The Paws in the Pool fundraiser is on Saturday, and Friends of the Lynchburg Dog Park are calling all volunteers.
On Saturday, Miller Park Pool will open to dogs for $15. It's $10 for adults and $5 for kids younger than 12.
Organizers need volunteers to sell tickets at the gate, hand out snacks at the concession stand, and keep an eye on the dogs and people in the pool.
They're about $9,000 short of the $35,000 they need for the first of three phases of the dog park.
So this is to raise money for that. It's also the first time we've had dogs in the Miller Park pool, and it's the kind of event people have asked about. So, it should be a lot of fun," said Thomas Strayhorn from Friends of Lynchburg Dog Park Inc.
Organizers say dog park donations have tripled since Lynchburg lost Petsafe's Bark for Your Park competition.
