The 3rd annual Get!Downtown street festival is Friday, Sept. 9 in downtown Lynchburg. The festival will feature more than 125 cultural organizations, merchants, entertainers, restaurants and on Main Street from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is free and open to everyone.

The Junior League of Lynchburg is hosting its 35th Day in The Park at Miller Park in Lynchburg on Saturday, Sept. 10. Promoting family togetherness, the festival will have free games, rides and educational activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme for the day is "The Wonderful World of Disney.

Come out to show your disc golf skills for the "Build A Better World" Disc Golf Tournament in Danville on Saturday, Sept. 10. The charity tournament at on will benefit the Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat for Humanity. Registration starts at 9:15 a.m., and tee time is at 10 a.m. Registration for the team tournament is $20, which includes a box lunch. Registration for both the team competition and the individual competition is $25. You can register online here.

Sans Soucy Vineyards in Brookneal is hosting the 2nd annual Shrimp & Wine Festival this Saturday, Sept. 10 from noon to 6 p.m. There will be five wineries, arts & crafts, food, live music and of course, farm-raised shrimp prepared by local food vendors. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the gate. That price includes a souvenir glass and wine tastings from Bright Meadows Farm Winery, DeVault Vineyards, Hickory Hill Vineyards, Hunting Creek Vineyards and Sans Soucy Vineyards.
