Thursday, Sept. 29 is Father Daughter Date Night at Robin Alexander Bistro in Lynchburg. The restaurant will have fun games, a photo booth, and a create-your-own dessert bar for girls and their fathers. All proceeds from the night will go to the non-profit Freedom 4/24, which strives to raise awareness about sexual exploitation of women.
Show off your moves at Salsa Dancing night in downtown Lynchburg Sept. 30. Every Friday, the Dance Theater of Lynchburg gives a beginner salsa lesson from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., and social dancing follows until midnight. Cover charge is $5 and includes the lesson.
Altavista's third annual Scarecrow Stroll kicks off this Saturday, Oct. 1 in downtown. People who created their own scarecrows will be setting them up along the streets from 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 1. The scarecrows will adorn the streets during the whole month of October.
The Oktoberfest International Arts and Culture Festival is this Saturday, Oct. 1 in Uptown Martinsville. The event will have street vendors, live music, performers and a petting zoo. It's 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. in Historic Uptown.
The 4th annual CROP Hunger Walk in Danville is on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. You can do the 1 mile or a 5K to raise money to help those in need. The walk will start at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.
